20 years of fatty liver patients have taught me one thing about the standard plan

The standard plan for fatty liver only fixes half the problem.

I have been a liver specialist for over 20 years. Most of my patients come in with fatty liver.

They get the same advice every time. Lose some weight, eat better, come back in 6 months.

They try. Some of them really try. They lose 10 or 20 pounds.

But when they come back, the ultrasound looks almost the same. Their ALT scores barely move.

Most of them blame themselves. They think they did not try hard enough.

The problem is not the weight. The problem is a signal that has broken down.

Here is what is actually happening inside the liver. The problem is not the weight. The problem is a signal that has broken down.

Your liver is supposed to be moving fat in and out all day. It is not a storage tank.

The exit signal is insulin. When you go prediabetic, that signal starts to break down.

The liver still hears the message to make fat. It stops hearing the message to release it.

So fat keeps coming in. Almost nothing leaves. That is fatty liver.

Losing weight reduces how much fat arrives. It does not fix the broken signal. The fat already inside has nowhere to go.

There is a small molecule that fixes the other half. It is called inositol. It is part of the B vitamin family.

Inositol is the courier that carries the insulin signal inside the cell. Without enough of it, the message stops at the door.

With enough of it, the signal gets through. The cell reads insulin again. The liver starts releasing fat.

I started recommending inositol to my patients a few years ago. The change in their numbers has been steady and predictable. Not dramatic, but real.

For inositol to work for the liver, the form matters. You want myo inositol and D chiro inositol together.

The studies use a 40 to 1 ratio. Most fertility focused inositol products add folic acid. For liver use, you want a version without it.

Kadora Inositol Complex

2,000 mg myo inositol and 50 mg D chiro inositol in the 40 to 1 ratio. No folic acid, no filler.

Try Kadora

The one I send my patients to is from a brand called Kadora. It has the 2 forms of inositol in the right ratio. No folic acid, no filler.

Patients who use it consistently see real changes within 3 months. ALT scores come down by 20 to 30 points. Fasting glucose drops a few points.

Ultrasound reports start moving from moderate fat to mild. It does not work overnight. There is no first day feeling.

It is a daily habit that supports a process running in the background.

I have had patients walk in with bags of supplements. Milk thistle. Detox cleanses. Greens powders.

Most of them target the wrong thing. They lean on antioxidants or vague liver support. The real problem is a broken signal. You cannot antioxidant your way around that.

Two options once you are diagnosed

If you have fatty liver, you have a window. It can be years long. Then it closes.

By the time the report says fibrosis, the damage is much harder to undo. You have 2 real options once you have been diagnosed.

Option 1

Keep doing what you have been doing. Same plan, same wait, same hope.

A note on sourcing

The inositol I recommend is only sold on the official Kadora website. There are knock off versions on Amazon and in retail stores. They use lower quality forms or hide their dosing in proprietary blends.

For your liver and your next follow up scans, get the real one.

★★★★★

"I have a drawer full of liver supplements that did nothing. Milk thistle. Some cleanse tea my sister swore by. None of it moved my numbers. I was honestly skeptical of this one too. My last bloodwork was the first time my ALT actually came down in 2 years. I am not calling it a miracle. I just keep taking it."

"I took milk thistle for almost a year. My doctor just shrugged when I asked if it was helping. Reading about how this one targets the insulin signal instead of just being another antioxidant finally made sense to me. The other stuff was missing the point. My follow up scan came back better than the one before it."

"I lost 17 pounds last year for my fatty liver and my numbers did not budge. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. Then I read about how the liver releases fat through an insulin signal. Nobody had ever explained that to me. My doctor told me to keep doing whatever I was doing at my last visit. I did not tell him what it actually was."

"I had a dull pressure on my right side for months. It started getting softer about a month in. I am not crashing at 3pm anymore either. I am sleeping through the night again. I waited to write this because I have been burned by supplement reviews before. This one earned it."

"My dad died of fibrosis at 62. I got diagnosed with fatty liver at 53. I was lying awake doing the math every night. I am 6 months in now and my last scan was the first piece of evidence I had that I might not be on his timeline. I cried in the parking lot when I read it. I have not had a 2am panic spiral in weeks."
